500 Dallas ISD teachers so far accept district’s $10,000 buyout offerPosted: February 28, 2011
Any LIS members know of teachers from your campuses taking the District’s offer? For that matter, are any LIS members taking the District’s offer?
Hundreds of Dallas teachers decided to take the money and run Saturday, accepting the school district’s offer of up to $10,000 to resign at the end of the school year.
“I was thinking about leaving anyway and starting a business of my own,” said Kelly Parsons, a fourth-grade teacher who now wants to plan weddings.
“I also thought that I needed to save someone else’s job,” she said. “I need to make room for someone who was passionate, and felt like [teaching] was their calling.”
