NSTA Learning Center Update and Free PD ResourcesPosted: March 18, 2011
While in San Francisco, I met Flavio Mendez, Senior Director of the NSTA Learning Center. Flavio was extremely interested in Leaders in Science, and the potential uses our network members might have for the NSTA Learning Center’s resources.
He particularly recommended an upcoming free web seminar (NSTA membership NOT required for participation), for a general overview of the Learning Center and its resources:
Are you new to the Learning Center and would like to get the most out of the resources and tools within it? Join us in this web seminar on March 23 [5:30-7:00 pm CDT] and see how the NSTA Learning Center’s over 1,800 free resources and professional development tools can help you in the classroom and in your career. Register Today!
In this seminar participants will learn about the new Discussion Forums where teachers can post questions, ideas, and best practices in science education. The presenters will talk about the new Learning Center personal profile, Activity Points and badges, and how teachers contribute to causes like education and the environment while growing professionally. Leisa Clark, Director of eLearning Production, will share information about the just-released Explaining Matter with Elements, Atoms, and Molecules SciPack and its three free Science Objects will be shared. This program is designed for educators of grades K-12, especially those who are new Learning Center users.
All participants will receive one free SciPack (value: $40), a certificate of participation, and 100 Learning Center Activity Points for attending and completing an evaluation at the end of the program.
