When the time comes to figure out which teachers to lay off, how much emphasis should really be placed on the value of teacher evaluations?  Walt Gardner believes accountability measures may have been granted too much importance:

Numerical goals have their place in schools. But they don’t deserve to be elevated to the throne in making decisions. That’s the mistake reformers make time and again.
