The Fall of the Flip Cam: A Loss for Teachers?

I feel so out-of-the-loop, tech-wise: I had no idea the Flip phone was going away.  Anyone using these in their classrooms?

via Teaching Now:

Tech blogs are abuzz today [12-Apr] with the news that Cisco will stop making Flip video cameras. Coincidentally, we’ve heard from a number of teachers over the last couple months who use these devices—which cost less than $200, hold up to a couple hours of HD footage, and are easy-as-pie to operate—in their classrooms. Joel Malley, featured in this recent Teacher PD Sourcebook article, gave his students Flip cams on a field trip at a local nature reserve. The high schoolers later combined the footage with their original poetry to create videos that the nature reserve showed at a fundraising event.
