Kids’ Science Challenge

Something to look at for your science clubs or after-school programs next year is the Kids’ Science Challenge, presented by Pulse of the Planet and the National Science Foundation

KSC is a nationwide competition for 3rd to 6th graders to submit experiments and problems for REAL scientists and engineers to solve.  The information for the coming year hasn’t been posted yet, but it would appear that the contest begins every year around October 1st.

Competition categories this year included “Sensational Sounds,” “Super Stuff for Sports,” and “Magical Microbes.”  The Teacher/Parent page includes lesson plans, and suggestions for adapting the KSC experience to a local science fair.

Pamphlet describing the 2010 competition found here.
